Donald Trump is now offering a huge reward to catch a man he believes is helping terrorists bring dangerous violence into the United States. The man hes targeting is Nicols Maduro, the leader of Venezuela, who has been in power since 2013. Trump and his team are accusing Maduro of working closely with major drug cartels and terrorist groups to flood the U.S. with deadly drugs and chaos. On Thursday, August 7, Attorney General Pam Bondi made a public statement saying the Trump administration is offering \$50 million for any information that leads to Maduros arrest. This is a massive increase from the previous reward, which started at \$15 million during Trumps first term, then was raised to \$25 million under President Joe Biden. Now Trump has doubled it again to \$50 million.Bondi explained that Maduro is using powerful and dangerous groups like the Tren de Aragua, the Sinaloa Cartel, and the Cartel of the Suns to smuggle drugs and spread violence. These drugsespecially fentanyl-laced cocainehave killed thousands of Americans. She said that just recently, the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) seized 30 tons of cocaine connected to Maduro and his inner circle. Seven tons of it were directly tied to him. That cocaine is believed to be one of the main sources of money for the cartels in Venezuela and Mexico.Pam Bondi also revealed that the U.S. government has already taken more than \$700 million in assets linked to Maduro. This includes luxury items like two private jets and nine vehicles. Yet despite all of this, Bondi warned that Maduro is still a free man, continuing his reign of terror, and remains one of the worlds biggest drug traffickers. She said hes a real threat to Americas safety.Back in March 2020, U.S. federal prosecutors filed serious criminal charges against Maduro in New York. These charges include narco-terrorism, conspiracy to smuggle large amounts of cocaine into the U.S., and illegal possession of military weapons like machine guns and explosives.Pam Bondi ended her speech with a strong warning, saying that under Trumps leadership, Maduro would not get away with his crimes. She encouraged anyone who knows where Maduro is or has helpful information to contact U.S. authorities. She gave the number 1-202-307-4228 and said tips could also be submitted online.Maduro has been called a dictator by many around the world. His time as president has been filled with allegations of rigged elections, corruption, and serious human rights violations. In fact, after a controversial election in 2018, many peopleincluding lawmakers in his own countryrefused to accept the results. Instead, they declared another politician, Juan Guaid, the real leader of Venezuela. Trump even invited Guaid to a high-profile event in 2020 to show his support. Now, with this record-breaking \$50 million reward, Trump is making it clear he wants Maduro captured and held responsible for his alleged crimes.
