Trinidad and Tobagos junior golfers finished fifth overall at the 2025 Caribbean Junior Golf Championships in Puerto Rico.
Team TTO ended the tournament with 97 points, just behind Jamaica (100). Hosts Puerto Rico claimed the overall title with 162 points, followed by the Dominican Republic (126), and the Bahamas (124).
Despite not reaching the podium in the overall standings, T&T celebrated several notable individual and team accomplishments across the multiple age divisions.
One of the standout performances came from Isabella Ramdeen, who finished second in the Girls 1113 division with rounds of 74, 79, and 80 to end at +17.
Her consistent play also helped T&T secure first place in the country standings for that division. Bermudas Darina Betschart won the division with an impressive four-under-par total.
In the Boys 1113 division, Josh Frankland tied for ninth place at +31 while Varin Singh placed 14th. The team tied for sixth with Barbados in the country standings. Franklands steady rounds of 83, 83, and 81 were highlighted as a promising start to his regional career in his debut tournament.
The Boys 15 and Under team secured a third-place finish in their category, thanks to solid efforts from Ethan Collier, who placed fifth individually with rounds of 75, 82, and 83 (+24). He was supported by Ben Laughlin (+29) and Isaiah Rowley (+31), contributing to one of T&Ts stronger team efforts at the championship.
In the Girls 18 and under category, Elise La Borde placed tenth overall with a +44 total (85, 88, 87). The team placed sixth in the country standings, as Jamaica and Puerto Rico claimed the top two spots in the division.
T&Ts most competitive showing in the older age group came in the Boys 18 and under division, where they tied for third with the Bahamas.
Captain Ross Ramkissoon led the way with a composed performance of 73, 73, and 78 to finish at +8, good enough for seventh place individually. Adam Green added steady rounds of 82 across all three days to finish 18th at +30.
The Trinidad and Tobago Golf Association (TTGA) praised the teams overall effort, noting the mix of podium finishes, individual breakthroughs, and team unity throughout the tournament.
Team TTO leaves Puerto Rico with heads held high, having demonstrated skill, sportsmanship, and the spirit of Trinidad and Tobago, the TTGA said in a statement yesterday.
From podium finishes to breakthrough performances, our junior athletes have laid a strong foundation for the future of golf in the region.
