Troops Raid Bandits Camps, Eliminate 1, Recover Motorcycles
Troops of the 401 Special Forces Brigade and Sector 1 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have neutralized a bandit and dismantled multiple criminal hideouts during a clearance operation in the Tatough general area of Makurdi Local Government Area, Benue State.
The coordinated offensive, conducted in conjunction with local hunters, targeted several notorious hotspots, including Mdoor, Anter, Tse-Gegu, Tse-Akaajime, Tse-Agam, and Ndor villages.
According to a statement issued Sunday by OPWS Headquarters in Makurdi, the troops came under attack at Tse-Akaajime village, sparking a brief but fierce exchange of gunfire. One bandit was eliminated in the firefight, while others fled into the surrounding bushes.

Items recovered from the scene included two Tecno mobile phones and three motorcycles believed to have been used for coordinating criminal activities in the area.
In the aftermath of the operation, all identified bandit camps were destroyed, effectively disrupting the criminals ability to regroup or reestablish their presence in the region.
The statement further revealed that the operation also provided escort support for bereaved families traveling to Tse-Ayele village for a burial, reflecting the militarys ongoing solidarity with local communities.
Meanwhile, troops stationed in Tatough have intensified foot and perimeter patrols to maintain a strong security presence, reassure residents, and deter further criminal activity.
Acting Commander of the 401 Special Forces Brigade and Sector 1 OPWS, Colonel K.O. Bukoye, lauded the troops for their courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to duty. He urged them to maintain the momentum in the continued effort to flush out criminal elements and restore lasting peace in Benue State.
