The Real Housewives of Orange County is back for its 19th season, promising new dynamics with the cast. This includes the relationship between Shannon Beador and Katie Ginella. Recently, Shannon opened up about where she stands with Katie and if they can move forward.
As fans know, Shannon, 61, and Katie, 41, started on good terms this season. However, it was revealed that Katie had recorded Shannon as she was having a breakdown, which has altered their dynamic and made Shannon and the rest of the group feel they couldnt trust Katie.
Shannon sat down for an interview with US Weekly to discuss the season and her current status with Katie. First, the interviewer asked if she had ever expected this level of betrayal from Katie, given that it seemed they were on solid footing. She responded, You know, for what happened with me, absolutely not. I was very, very shocked, and you know, its just an off thing that she did.
Shannon continued, I mean, its an unlawful thing that she did in the state of California. But, where the drama is very different this year, it just comes out of nowhere, and youre like, What, is that really happening? Its just very unique.
She went on, I was trying to help her and give her advice so that she could make things okay with everyone. This is the bottom line: there is no positive explanation or positive intention when you secretly record someone. There isnt. Only bad intent. So, how do you go back from that?
The interviewer then asked Shannon what she believed Katies intention was regarding the recording. She said, To have evidence to potentially hurt me. She played it for Alexis Bellino when I was in active litigation with her fianc. Thats not positive.
When asked if she considered taking legal action against Katie, Shannon explained, No, I mean, Im not gonna do that. It takes so much out of you to do something like that, but you know, it crossed a line, and I felt very violated. Ill tell you, I dont like that some people are trying to focus on my behavior that day. Its a day where we take cast photographs, and it was right after we got back from London.
She went on, If you recall, I flew home by myself. I had been through a lot last season. She then took accountability for her past actions, saying, And I put myself there. Im the one that got the DUI. Im the one that dated John. I put myself in that tough place, but after London, I was spent, and it was a hard time for me.
Shannon added, So, the fact that she would even try to highlight that, knowing what I had been through, and she was supportive of me in London. I just, I dont get it. In the end, she said that Katie may be equally as bad as Alexis Bellino and Tamra Judge.
RHOC airs on Thursday nights.
