August 04, (THEWILL) On Monday, the Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) threw its weight behind President Bola Tinubus bid for a second term in office for the 2027 general elections.
The declaration was made during a campaign flag-off event for the partys candidate, Hon. Bolarinwa Oluwole, in the Remo Federal Constituency bye-election for the House of Representatives, held at the Palace of Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, ba Babatunde Ajayi.
Oluwole is the PDP candidate seeking to replace the late Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, the former lawmaker representing the constituency, who died in January after a brief illness.

Speaking to a gathering of party faithful and supporters, Tella expressed the PDPs readiness to work with President Tinubu, backing his re-election aspirations as the PDP was determined to reclaim the constituency to prepare the main opposition party to take over the reins of power from the APC in the 2027 elections.
Tella said that even though the president is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the main opposition party in the state decided to throw its weight behind him for the 2027 presidential elections because he is from the Southwest.
He said, We will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Though he is in the opposition, let us support our own from the South West. Our support is for Tinubu, and we will stand by him. We are ready to give him our votes. The whole of the south west will give him our votes.
We are going to support him. We will give him our votes. All we want in that election is fairness and just.
Similarly, the partys Gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 elections in the state, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, stated that PDP decided to back Tinubu because the party had no problem with the president securing a second term in office
Adebutu said that the only person the party has an issue with is Governor Dapo Abiodun, whom he accused of bad governance and underperformance, as well as destruction of the ruling partys legacy in the state.
He said, I was with the President in January, and I told him that we have no issue with his leadership and candidacy, we, however, have an issue with bad governance in Ogun state, that is why we must have this platform to challenge bad governance.
Some people have now become pensioners for the last ten years; theyve not gotten a dime, meanwhile, N82 billion of pensioners funds have disappeared, he added.
