Coalition of Civil Society Organization (CSO) have faulted what they described as deafening silence of Kano police command 48 hours after the deadly attack on Emir Mohammadu Sanusi II palace.

Besides, the groups demanded security explanation over the invasion of the palace, destruction of properties including two operational vehicles of the police command, and macheted of palace guard allegedly orchestrated by supporters of 15th emir Alh. Aminu Ado Bayero.

In a statement signed by leaders of the eight CSOs worried that the action of the perpetrators of terror on Kofar-Kudu is perceived to be a deliberate plot by unpatriotic elements to plunge Kano into state of chaos and uncertainty.

The leaders of the groups and their organizations include Mustapha Abdullahi, Kano Digital Media Rangers; Comrade Salisu Gambo, Youth Mobilization By Media; Alh. Suleiman Idris, Northern Youth Assembly; AbdulKadir Abubakar, One Voice Development Initiative, Aisha Mohammad Shetimma, Beyond Border Alliance; Barr. Badamasi Gandu of Kano First Forum; Amb. Abbas Abdullahi, Convener of One Kano Agenda.

The group lamented the ugly situation is even worsening with the inaction of the police which they claim is tantamount to compromising the relative peace and tranquility Kano has enjoyed in recent time.

The Kano Emirs palace came under attack on Sunday evening by a convoy of the dethroned Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, while returning from the residence of the late Kano business mogul Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, where he paid a condolence visit.

It has come to the knowledge of the organizations that, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero abandoned the usual route to his personal residence at Mandawari and decided to intentionally passed through Kabara infront of the Kano Emirs Palace, hence the attack on the palace by some elements who were allegedly linked to the dethroned emirs entourage.

Based on this attack, a verifiable evidence of destruction at the Sanusis palace include three vandalized Police Hilux Vehicle (NPF 182D), Mopol 9, Police Hilux Vehicle (NPF 195D) , Mopol 52 Vandalization of Property.

Also vandalized are Motorcycle belonging to one Abdullahi Shehu (Police Officer); Motorcycle belonging to one Ibrahim Isa (Security Marshal attached to the Emirate); Emirates Main Iron Gate was severely vandalized; Police Security Point at the Emirs residence was shattered.

The CSOs further said Stolen Security Assets also include 1 Full Set of Police Camouflage Uniform; 1 Pair of Police Security Boots; 1 Bullet Magazine which is an extremely dangerous item now unaccounted. Individuals that sustained injuries were Maigoma Danagundi currently hospitalized at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital; Yunusa Babba who is injured (Security Marshal) and Special Constabulary Officer Murtala Muhammad who sustained physical injuries.

In light of the above and in the interest of peace, security, and public order in Kano State, we humbly call on the police Kano command to Commence an immediate investigation into the attack and destruction of public property, and the assault on law enforcement agents and civilians.

Identify, arrest, and prosecute all individuals responsible for leading and executing the attack; Recover all stolen police assets, especially the missing bullet magazine, which poses a serious security risk and ensure the safety and security of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II and his residence through increased deployment of security personnel. The statement read.
