Watch as Josh Naylor seems to suffer an apparent injury during a swing at the plate, and is later replaced at first base with Donovan Solano.
SEATTLE Seattle Mariners first baseman Josh Naylor left Thursday's game against the Chicago White Sox after grounding out to second base to end the third inning.
The Mississauga, Ont., native appeared to wince after taking swings facing right-hander Shane Smith with two outs and the bases empty.
There was no official word from the Mariners on why Naylor left the game.
He was replaced to start the top of the fourth at first base by Donovan Solano.
In the 12 games since he was acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 25th, Naylor has slugged three homers and six RBIs while accumulating a league-leading 10 steals over that span.
The Mariners are 7-5 since picking up the 2023 all-star and are closing in on the Houston Astros atop the AL West division, just two games back entering Thursday.
Naylor began his career with the San Diego Padres before being traded to the Cleveland Guardians midway through his second season in 2020. The Diamondbacks acquired him in a trade with the Guardians during the past off-season.
Over 703 career games, he has 98 home runs and 408 RBIs.
