Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stated that the visa departments at ministries of interior at the GCC countries, through their ongoing joint technical meetings, are exerting valuable efforts to launch the unified tourist visa over the coming period.
This statement came during Albudaiwis meeting with participants in the 39th meeting of visa department heads in the GCC countries today, at Riyadh Amanah, during which the latest updates to the project were reviewed.
The GCC Supreme Council approved in 2023 the unified tourist visa, which will contribute to facilitating the movement of tourists and incoming visitors between the GCC countries, according to Argaams data.
According to a report issued by Travel and Tour World, the unified GCC tourist visa will likely have an impact similar to the European Schengen visa, and will help the region attract about 129 million visitors by 2030.
