In a heartwarming tale of grit and perseverance, Bibhuti Bhushan Nayak, a native of the remote Kalingi village in Daringbadi block of Odishas Kandhamal district, has been appointed as the new Collector of Boudh district. His journey from a forest-surrounded tribal village to a top administrative position has become a beacon of inspiration for many.

Nayak, who completed his early education in the village school, once worked there as a teacher, just like his father Ilyas Nayak, who also taught in the same school. His mother served as an Anganwadi worker. It is remarkable that the same school which shaped his childhood became his first workplace, and now he returns as a top bureaucrat of a neighbouring district.

A 2020-batch IAS officer, Nayak began his civil service career as Sub-Collector of Kuchinda in Sambalpur and later served as ADM in Mayurbhanj. Known for his grounded approach and dedication, his appointment as Boudh Collector has brought immense joy to his family and his village.

I had always hoped that he (Nayak) will achieve something. I am delighted that he has been appointed as a collector, said Jita Nayak, sister-in-law of the Boudh Collector.

None from our area has achieved such a success but our villages son has done this. We hope he will achieve many more success and work for the people, said Kanakalata Rana Singh, a local resident.

I am very elated that my student has become the collector. He was very studious. Now he has become an inspiration, said Pranabandhu Rana Singh, Nayaks teacher.
