Youve read a lot about the macOS 26 interface this summer, but its not just menus and buttons that will be different on the Mac later this year. Apple is taking advantage of the Liquid Glass introduction to bring some new icon designs to the Mac as well to help give macOS a fresh look. You might have seen some of them on social media posts, but for many users, the differences will be jarring.
If youre the type who primarily makes graphical identifications while looking around on your Mac, some of the icons may throw you off because Apple made a drastic change. Other icons will be instantly recognizableyou may not even notice a difference unless to pause a take a close look. In many cases, the icons are simpler and have less character than they did before.
